Luke Evans (“The Hobbit” trilogy) and Emilia Clarke (“Game of Thrones”) have joined the cast of the upcoming TV series adaptation of the multi-Eisner Award-winning graphic novel series “Criminal” at Amazon Prime Video.
Edgar Award-winning crime fiction author Jordan Harper will co-showrun the series alongside the comic’s writer Ed Brubaker with the latter penning the pilot script.
The series is said to be “an interlocking universe of crime stories” and “tells the interweaving saga of several generations of families tied together by the crimes and murders of the past.”
Evans plays the lead role of Tracy Lawless was pushed out of the outlaw life at 18 and went into the army and covert ops. However, outlaw blood still pumps in his heart.
Clarke will play Mallory, an armed robber living on the edge. She’s skilled with guns and witty retorts, and is part of the heist crew of Ricky Lawless (Halper).
The pair mark the latest to join a swelling cast that includes Charlie Hunnam, Richard Jenkins, John Hawkes, Adria Arjona, Logan Browning, Kadeem Hardison, Pat Healy, Taylor Sele, Gus Halper, Aliyah Camacho, Michael Mando, Marvin Jones III, Michael Xavier, and Dominic Burgess.
Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden will direct the first four episodes of the series set up at Legendary Television and Amazon MGM Studios.
