Filmmaker Shawn Levy is currently out promoting his “Deadpool and Wolverine” film alongside its stars Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds.
In the coming days, he’s inevitably going to be asked about the “Star Wars” film he has in development, but before he does it seems The Insneider got an update already from their own sources.
In November 2022, Levy was set to direct a “Star Wars” movie – a film separate from the three other officially announced projects in development.
Work on it stalled due to the writer’s strike and Levy’s Marvel commitments but it’s back in development and today’s report indicates he’s bringing a regular collaborator with him.
Jonathan Tropper, the creator and showrunner of acclaimed Cinemax series “Warrior” and co-creator of “Banshee,” has reportedly been hired to pen the script for Levy’s film.
Tropper has worked with Levy twice before – he wrote the screenplays for Levy’s 2014 ensemble comedy “This Is Where I Leave You” and 2022’s Ryan Reynolds-led “The Adam Project”.
Previously, Levy has said that Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy first recruited him because she explained to him that she wants “a story and a tone that reflects you and your taste and what you bring to your movies”.
Tropper is also behind the upcoming Apple TV+ series “Your Friends and Neighbors”.
