Netflix has officially kicked off production in South Africa on the second season of its live-action “One Piece” TV series.
To celebrate they’ve released a new video which sees its quintet of Straw Hat crew actors – Iñaki Godoy (Monkey D. Luffy), Mackenyu (Roronoa Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero (Usopp) and Taz Skylar (Sanji) reuniting onboard the Going Merry.
They’ve also confirmed three other returnees from the first season – Jeff Ward is back as Buggy the Clown, Ilia Isorelys Paulino returns as Captain Alvida, and Michael Dorman is reprising his brief series prologue role of Gol D. Roger.
The news also follows on from multiple casting announcements with David Dastmalchian, Jazzara Jaslyn, Camrus Johnson and Daniel Lasker set as members of Baroque Works.
Additional new cast members include Callum Kerr (Smoker), Brendan Sean Murray (Brogy), Clive Russell (Crocus), Julia Rehwald (Tashigi), Rob Colletti (Wapol), Ty Keogh (Dalton) and Werner Coetser (Dorry).
Multiple key cast members have yet to be cast including key names in the overall saga like Crocodile, Nico Robin, Tony Tony Chopper, and Portgas D. Ace.
Filming on the new run is expected to run for the remainder of the year.
