Yorgos Lanthimos’ upcoming remake of Joon-hwan’s South Korean 2003 fantasy comedy “Save the Green Planet!” has been given an official title and release date.
Focus Features has announced that the film will officially be called “Bugonia” and will star Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons. It has been set for a November 7th 2025 release.
In the eccentric black comedy, two conspiracy-obsessed young men kidnap the high-powered CEO of a major company, convinced that she is an alien intent on destroying planet Earth.
Will Tracy (“The Menu”) pens the script which marks the latest re-teaming of Stone and Lanthimos following multiple collaborations such as the awards darlings “The Favorite” and “Poor Things”.
They most recently did “Kinds of Kindness” together, a film which also saw a title change from “And” with Stone and co-star Willem Dafoe recently admitting (via The Wrap) they didn’t like that original title.
Lathimos, Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, Ari Asterm Lars Knudsen, Miky Lee and Jerry Kyoungboum Ko will produce the new film and Universal Pictures will distribute “Bugonia” internationally excluding Korea.
