Disney and Pixar’s highly-anticipated “Inside Out” sequel scored $13 million in Thursday afternoon/night previews according to Deadline.
That beats the $12 million that “Dune: Part Two” did earlier this year to be the highest preview haul of 2024 so far. The record preview for a Pixar movie was “Incredibles 2” at $18.5 million in 2018, while the first “Inside Out” did just $3.7 million in previews.
Going into the weekend, projections for the new sequel’s three-day opening weekend haul have been hovering around $85 million. Now, those estimates are climbing upward with some suggesting a potential $100 million or more opening for the movie.
Certainly, the $135 million global opening projection that has been touted now seems likely to be beaten. Word of mouth is high thanks to strong reviews from both critics and moviegoers.
“Inside Out 2” is hitting 4,400 theatres in North America this week with all major theatrical screen formats represented.
