Acting veterans Nicolas Cage, J.K. Simmons, Giancarlo Esposito and Andy Garcia are all set to join Scott Haze (“Minari,” “Old Henry”) in “The Prince” which has just begun production.
Pulitzer Prize winner and Oscar nominee David Mamet pens the script for the film which chronicles “an addict’s tumultuous odyssey through the high-stakes world of power, pleasure, and pain on a transformative journey toward recovery”.
According to multiple sources for Deadline, the project is at least partly inspired by U.S. President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden whose history of drug and alcohol abuse is well-documented.
He was also found guilty Tuesday in Delaware of three felony counts. Sean Wolfington (“Sound of Freedom”) is producing along with Haze, Van Hoy, Jo Henriquez and Lije Sarki.
Haze will next be seen in Kevin Costner’s “Horizon: An American Saga,” Cage just premiered “The Surfer” at Cannes and has “Longlegs” coming to cinemas, Simmons will soon be seen in “Red One” and “Juror #2,” Garcia will be in Taylor Sheridan’s new “Landman” series, and Esposito is in multiple films on the way including “Megalopolis,” “Maxxxine” and “Captain America: Brave New World”.
Cameron Van Hoy is directing the project. No word on a potential release date.
