Last week Disney touted that its latest “Star Wars” series, “The Acolyte,” debuted to 4.8 million viewers in its first 24 hours – giving it the biggest Disney+ premiere of 2024.
The only real comparison figure for that was last year’s “Ahsoka” which Disney did not reveal the opening day viewership of – only that the series pulled in 14 million views in its first five days on the platform.
Cut to today and now the five-day figures for “The Acolyte” are in. According to Collider, the new series falls short of “Ahsoka,” the title clocking in at around 11.1 million views within the first five days of it’s June 4th premiere.
The first two episodes, which were both directed by showrunner Leslye Headland, are available now. The third episode, directed by celebrated filmmaker Kogonada (“Columbus,” “After Yang”) premieres tomorrow night at 6m US-PT.
“The Acolyte” runs for eight episodes and will wrap on July 16th. Lucasfilm is expected to release its next “Star Wars” series, “Skeleton Crew,” later this year.
A second season of “Andor” is due in early 2025, and a second season of “Ahsoka” is reportedly set to begin filming later this year.
