Pixar CCO Pete Docter appeared at a press screening for “Inside Out 2” this weekend where he revealed that Andrew Stanton will reportedly direct “Toy Story 5”.
The MontyVerse was in attendance at the screening and revealed the news, adding that the news was “part of a long final statement he was making to close out the Q&A” and “he said it so casually in passing”.
Stanton is a Pixar veteran who has directed three films for them – “Finding Nemo,” “Finding Dory” and “WALL-E” with two of those winning an Oscar.
He also wrote eight films for them, including the first two “Toy Story” movies, and helmed the live-action “John Carter” film.
Docter in his Q&A also reportedly said that animation is going to evolve and look very different over the next several years which should prove interesting for Pixar’s output.
“Inside Out 2” opens in cinemas next Friday.
