A few weeks back “Breaking Bad” actor Giancarlo Esposito officially confirmed he’s joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe during the CCXP convention in Mexico City.
At the time he teased he would NOT be appearing in a role many fans have suggested for him, such as Professor X from “X-Men,” but a different role that will be new to the MCU. He also added it’d coming “sooner rather than later”.
Well, Esposito popped up at another convention this weekend – this time Phoenix Fan Fusion – where he added (via Legion of Sand) that his role will get a brief tease first, likely an upcoming Marvel film, before going on to a TV series likely for the Disney+ service:
“The MCU has knocked on my door and it’s a role you won’t predict. It will be teased and there will be a series afterwards.”
He also reportedly added that people will be surprised by the role. When a fan suggested he’d made an “excellent” Doctor Doom, he reportedly spoke discussed his work and cryptically mentioned the line”talking it into existence and making yourself believe in it”.
He isn’t the only “Breaking Bad” star scoring a Marvel Studios link today either. Scooper My Time to Shine Hello is reporting that Bryan Cranston has met with Marvel Studios about a mystery MCU role. No further specifics were revealed.
Esposito was rumored to have met with Feige back in 2022, and it wasn’t until this month we got any concrete word of his involvement in the MCU. So even if the Cranston report is true, we potentially won’t get confirmation for some time.
Indeed, as CBM points out Feige has general meetings with lots of actors, so there’s nothing to say this will lead anywhere.
