By The first photo is out of Dwayne Johnson in full wig and make-up, and almost unrecognizable, as MMA legend Mark Kerr for A24’s “The Smashing Machine”.
A24 posted the teaser shot from the film which is helmed by “Good Time” and “Uncut Gems” co-director Benny Safdie in his his first solo directorial effort.
Johnson reportedly flew into Cannes last week to meet with buyers. Sporting plenty of hair, different tattoos, and an adjusted face, it marks a major dramatic role for the actor.
Kerr was a two-time UFC Heavyweight Tournament Champion. He rose through the fighting world with his no-holds-barred approach. However, an addiction to painkillers ultimately led to an overdose.
Emily Blunt co-stars as Dawn Staples, Mark’s wife, who struggles to find her place within Mark’s chaotic and contradictory world.
