Miami PD detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett are back! Being banned from the Oscars hasn’t stopped Will Smith from returning to one of his first post-Fresh Prince characters for a fourth time. Now Sony Pictures has released the second, and final, trailer for Bad Boys: Ride or Die.
The original Bad Boys was released in 1995. That was almost thirty years ago. It was right in the midst of that glorious action movie period that included The Rock, Con Air, Face/Off, and True Lies, among others. Truly a great time to be going to the movies.
It was also the first time we got to see the work of Michael Bay on the big screen, with his trademark slo-mo, swooping camera work and advertisement commercial veneer to everything. It was the very birth of Bayhem.
The film was completed for $19 million and grossed $141 million, that is nearly $300 million today. Incredible for an R-rated action movie starring a television actor and a comedian. It even inspired a Bollywood version – Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.
This time around, Lowrey and Burnett are on the run, framed by corrupt cops in their own department. The movie will pick up where Bad Boys For Life left off, picking up some of the unresolved plot threads from that movie.
Due to timing and the COVID closedown, Bad Boys For Life spent much of its release year as the top-grossing movie of that year.
Alexander Ludwig, Vanessa Hudgens, Eric Dane, Paola Núñez, Rhea Seehorn, Tasha Smith, Jacob Scipio, and Ioan Gruffudd co-star.
Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who directed Bad Boys for Life, return.
Bad Boys: Ride or Die is released in theaters on June 7th.
