Oscar Isaac has signed on to portray Jesus Christ in the animated family film “The King of Kings” being made by South Korean-based animation house Mofac Animation.
Forest Whitaker has also been set to voice apostle Peter in the project which also stars Kenneth Branagh, Uma Thurman and Roman Griffin Davis.
The faith-based feature is ‘very loosely’ inspired by the posthumously published and barely known Charles Dickens short story “The Life of Our Lord” which depicts the life and times of Jesus.
Jang and Rob Edwards (“The Princess and the Frog”) penned the adaptation in which Charles Dickens (Branagh) and son Walter (Davis) embark on a multi-dimensional adventure through the fascinating life of Jesus and various challenges he faced.
The Dickens and their family cat Willa will be immersed in the ancient tale, interacting with Jesus and his disciples to “make the biblical journey easily relatable”
VFX pioneer Seong-ho ‘Jay’ Jang is directing while Anfernee Kim is producing. Distributors are currently being sought.
