Rockstar Games owner Take Two Interactive has set a Fall 2025 release window for next year’s most anticipated video game launch – “Grand Theft Auto VI”.

The news came as part of Take Two releasing its quarterly earnings on Thursday. Whilst some hoped it would arrive in early 2025, this marks the first narrowing of the game’s release window to a specific period within that calendar year.

Take Two said in a statement: “We are highly confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience, and our expectations for the commercial impact of the title continue to increase.”

Take Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick tells Variety they won’t narrow the window any more than ‘Fall 2025’ for now, saying the ultimate date reveal “will come from Rockstar and be consistent with the way they are marketing the title”.

The first trailer for the game released back in December last year and pulled in more than 93 million views in the initial 24-hour period.

The new game will arrive twelve years after the last entry in the franchise with 2013’s “Grand Theft Auto V” which has become the second-best-selling video game of all time and the top-selling game of the last decade by sales.

It also can’t come too soon for Take-Two which posted a $2.9 billion loss for the quarter.
