With a little under three months to go, hype is already high for Marvel Studios’ “Deadpool & Wolverine” film and now the stars, filmmakers and producers have started to talk about what we can expect from one of the year’s likely biggest films.

As we know from the trailers, the film will bring the TVA (Time Variance Authority) from “Loki” into play here with Matthew Macfadyen’s TVA agent handpicking Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson to help on some MCU timeline issues.

As part of a cover story with Empire magazine, Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige says the TVA is trying to ensure the safety of The Sacred Timeline (Earth-616) when they recruit Deadpool:

“Deadpool is very intrigued by that. He learns soon thereafter that it’s not quite as simple an offer as he thought it was, and the stakes are universe-sized.”

As confirmed by the recent trailer, the Wolverine here is from a different timeline and thus doesn’t undo the events seen in James Mangold’s “Logan”. Feige says he once urged Jackman not to return to the role after “Logan”:

“I said, ‘Let me give you a piece of advice, Hugh. Don’t come back’. ‘You had the greatest ending in history with ‘Logan.’ That’s not something we should undo.’”

Jackman himself seems most keen to finally show off his character’s new yellow and blue costume in action:

“We almost did it in ‘The Wolverine,’ but from the moment I put it on here, I was like, ‘How did we never do this?’ It looked so right; it felt so right. I was like, ‘That’s him.’ There are different sides of Wolverine we haven’t seen before in the movies. It was exciting for me.”

Reynolds himself says it’s “the most Deadpool movie in the history of Deadpool”. “Deadpool & Wolverine” hits theaters on July 26th.
