By Actor Josh Brolin has revealed that “Mission Impossible” filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie is no longer involved in the third “Sicario” film, and “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan’s involvement is in question.
Brolin is currently out doing promotional rounds for his well-regarded western sci-fi series “Outer Range” which returns May 16th with a second season.
Speaking with the Bingeworthy TV podcast, Brolin talked about the new season and other projects including the still in the works third film in the “Sicario” franchise.
The film, which is tipped to re-team him, Emily Blunt and Benicio del Toro, is still a while off according to Brolin – however things are moving in the right direction:
“We are – we’re closer. Yes. Molly Smith, who is a really good friend, who is one of the producers of that on Black Label – I said something. I said, ‘It’s never gonna happen!’ and it kind of went everywhere. And she was very reactive, which I appreciated. I appreciate reaction. They’re very much focused on wanting it to happen, but we won’t let it happen until there’s a story interesting enough to want to spend that kind of money on it.”
Then he revealed that McQuarrie is out and Sheridan, who penned the first two films, isn’t locked yet:
“Chris [McQuarrie] was involved for a while, but he’s not now, and I don’t know about [Taylor] Sheridan. I know him really well, but I don’t know if he’s onboard or not.”
Denis Villeneuve, who directed the first film, previously indicated he would not be involved with a third one.
