Following news on Friday that “Star Trek: Lower Decks” will end with its upcoming fifth season currently in production, those involved in the show are voicing their reaction.

That includes Jack Quaid, the beloved young actor who portrays series co-lead Boimler in the show. Quad posted a sincere message on Instagram, saying it had been an honor ” to be a part of this show and the Star Trek universe at large”.

It was what he said after that which has gotten people excited:

“The good news is that everyone who makes Lower Decks LOVES making Lower Decks. I could play Boimler for 17 more seasons. No joke. I’m serious. I love that purple-haired nerd. Hopefully we find a new home, but until then please look forward to an amazing season five (airing this fall).”

With the news of the cancellation, there was no indication that the series would be shopped around for a potential continuation in a new home.

Thus Quaid’s comments have quickly led to the hashtag #SAVEStarTrekLowerDecks to trend on social media in an effort to make that happen.

The first four seasons of “Star Trek: Lower Decks” are now streaming on Paramount+ with the fifth season on the way.
