Distributor A24 has released a final trailer for Alex Garland’s upcoming “Civil War” movie which is set to open in cinemas Friday.
The trailer comes as major outlet reviews for the film have been unleashed and, with 103 reviews counted, the movie currently sits on an 88% (7.7/10) on Rotten Tomatoes.
Reviews for most part seem divisive – most are full of high praise for Garland’s work with plenty of , but the few negative ones are quite negative and dub it vapid and seem very upset over its apoliticism.
The story follows journalists travelling with the military in a dystopian near-future America torn apart by conflict. They are traveling with the military to make it to Washington, D.C. before one of the opposing armies makes it there first.
The film reportedly avoids any direct red state vs. blue state style comparisons, trying to serve as objective and politically neutral about the dangers of polarization.
Kirsten Dunst, Wagner Moura, Cailee Spaeny, Nick Offerman, Stephen McKinley, Jesse Plemons and Sonoya Mizuno co-star in “Civil War” which has already begun rolling out in other countries.
