Originally ordered to series at Max, then sold to Netflix, the full-length trailer has arrived for the upcoming supernatural series “Dead Boy Detectives” based on the DC Comics title.
The characters, created by Neil Gaiman, are set in “The Sandman” universe. Edwin Payne (George Rexstrew) and Charles Rowland (Jayden Revri) are ‘the brains’ and ‘the brawn’ behind the Dead Boy Detectives agency.
Teenagers born decades apart who find each other only in death, Edwin and Charles are best friends and ghosts… who solve mysteries. They will do anything to stick together – including escaping evil witches, Hell and Death herself.
With the help of their very alive clairvoyant friend Crystal Palace (Kassius Nelson) and her friend Niko (Yuyu Kitamura), they are able to crack some of the mortal realm’s most mystifying paranormal cases.
The eight-part series also stars Jenn Lyon, Briana Cuoco, Ruth Connell, Lukas Gage and David Iacono. Steve Yockey wrote the first episode and serves as showrunner alongside Beth Schwartz as co-showrunner.
Yockey also wrote the “Doom Patrol” third season episode that introduced the characters on screen, though that’s a separate incarnation from this.
Greg Berlanti, Yockey, Schwartz, Jeremy Carver, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman and Gaiman serve as executive producers.
