It has been a very busy day on the release date announcement front.
First up, Searchlight has set an October 10th limited release for its Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin-led dramedy “A Real Pain” which Eisenberg writes and directs.
Focus Features has acquired worldwide rights to Carey Mulligan comedy “The Ballad of Wallis Island” and will release the film States-side later this year with Universal Pictures International handling overseas.
Next a bunch of home video release dates have been announced. “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” will be available for streaming on STARZ starting May 14th. The Russell Crow-led “Sleeping Dogs” will be available to buy on digital on April 9th, and Blumhouse’s “Imaginary” is coming to disc May 14th
Famed director Guillermo Del Toro has revealed he’s been working on new 4K transfers for four of his movies all coming to disc within the “next year or so”. The list includes “Cronos,” “Mimic,” “Blade II” and “Crimson Peak”.
Additionally Roman Polanski’s noir classic “Chinatown” has also been announced for 4K on June 18th and a deluxe edition of John Waters’ “Cry Baby” is also on the way on May 28th.
