Recently at the Venice Film Festival, where he drew rave reviews for his work on “Primetime,” actor Robert Pattinson spoke about Matt Reeves’ “The Batman Part II,” which he’ll be filming for much of the rest of the year.
A ton of set video and photos have hit social media in recent weeks, showing scenes with the Batmobile damaged and large-scale vehicular action involving cops, Batman seemingly on the run, as well as scenes involving a child – all of which have sparked a bunch of speculation.
Either way, there’s still no clue regarding the film’s plot or potential villains, with speculation ranging from Two-Face to Victor Zsasz to The Court of Owls.
Pattinson didn’t clean up anything on that front; in fact, he suggests the film is going to be unlike other Batman films we’ve seen before, including the prior one. Speaking with MyMovies.It:
“It’s just amazing. It’s quite a radical change to the script, and it’s cool that [WB] are behind it and DC. It’s just crazy. I think [Matt Reeves] is the only person who anyone would allow to do it because it’s, like, a really radical retelling of Batman. I think that people will be excited by it.”
This fits with Reeves’ comments earlier that the film “pushes even further into the character of Bruce Wayne” and the approach to the villain is something “never really been done in a movie before.”
Pattinson adds that the film “visually looks different to the first film… [It’s] another totally different direction”.
Filming has reportedly wrapped a three-week leg of shooting within the Glasgow city centre, with more to come across various parts of the UK throughout the rest of the year.
Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, Charles Dance, Jayme Lawson, Gil Perez-Abraham, Sebastian Koch, and Brian Tyree Henry co-star in the film slated to release on February 2028.
