It’s Official

It was previously reported that all the drama behind-the-scenes of MobLand with Tom Hardy had been resolved. The goings-on this past year, as season 2 of the Guy Ritchie series wrapped up, involved the news that producers did not want to invite Hardy back after clashing with the actor. Since then, Hardy and the producers have seemingly settled whatever conflict may have existed and Hardy was said to be invited to return if a season 3 was to go forward.

According to Deadline, Paramount+ has officially given MobLand season 3 a greenlight and Tom Hardy will also be returning along with the cast for the new season. The show has been given the new season order just ahead of season 2’s premiere on September 18.

Ritchie steps in to save MobLand

According to Deadline, efforts to mend the rift culminated in a recent meeting in London between Hardy, Butterworth, and series executive producer David Glasser. The trio agreed on the show’s direction, with Deadline reporting that MobLand’s executive producer, Guy Ritchie, played a significant role in mending fences. While MobLand does not have an official renewal for a third season, Hardy’s return should speed things along. Hardy is reportedly under a three-year contract for the series, which should make his return smooth.

What’s MobLand about?

In MobLand, Pierce Brosnan stars as Conrad Harrigan, patriarch of the crime family, with Helen Mirren playing Maeve Harrigan, Conrad’s wife and matriarch of the family, and Tom Hardy playing Harry Da Souza, a fixer for the Harrigan family. It also stars Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson, Geoff Bell, Daniel Betts, Lisa Dwan, and Emily Barber.

MobLand began as a Ray Donovan spinoff series titled The Donovans. Later, Ritchie reworked the concept for a standalone series with no connections to Ray Donovan.

Our Alex Maidy enjoyed season one and gave it an 8/10 review, saying, “MobLand is not all that different from any other gangster or crime-based series on television. Still, it rises above the formula thanks to the fixer plot structure inherited from Ray Donovan and the great cast led by Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren. MobLand is violent and intense, with the right amount of humor to brighten the story.”
