The United States of North America is an unbelievable large country, even if we mostly take that for granted. It can contain several European countries inside of it, and is wide enough to need different time zones across its population. In such a large territory, both silly and amazing things are happening all of the time.
Here we’ve gathered just some examples from across the internet of how inventive, creative and wacky the country can get, with neighboring states not recognizing one another like brothers, more like the strange distant cousins. If you feel seen, it is because you are.
Bear Fight
American roads are known to be traversed by wildlife as well, although seeing a bear fight is hardly a daily occurrence.
Greetings from Arkansas
Gun usage is common all over America, but it seems this child wants to welcome visitors with his toy M16 to show his dedication.
Happy Squirrel
Skydiving in America’s mountain ranges is as popular as it is doing it with thematic clothing.
Attack Seagull
These two signs seem to be complementing each other, since if you want to protect yourself from the dreaded Attack Seagull, you’ll have to pay to refill your rock ammunition.
Several Attractions
Some places in America are famed for how little there is to do in them, as shown by this sign that proudly shows the non-existent attractions in the nearby town.
Zebra
It’s already strange to have a mount in America, at least within the big cities. But a zebra is taking it to the next level.
Peches
Let’s just hope that the services being advertised here are peaches, and not whatever else might be phonetically linked to that writing.
Lava
We’re not sure if the sign was believable before, but with the lava cluster right next to it, it sure is.
Chicago and Farms
We’re sure that the residents of Illinois would differ, even if a lot of people already think that the state is basically just Chicago.
Hell is Real
Doomsayers have been a thing since the beginning of time, and yet, here we are. At least they seem to be doing well enough to afford billboards.
Pepsi Stop
Sure, a gas station offers a place to relieve yourself, refill your car and buy a sandwich. But what if all you really wanted is a refreshing soda? We can’t live from only water.
Double Tornado
Dangerous weather is the name of the game in America, although it’s preferred when it comes one at a time. Two tornados is overdoing it a bit.
No Horsing Around
These two equine individuals take their time at the stadium very seriously, donning their signature masks for the occasion.
Alligator Pet
It’s legal to have an alligator as a pet, right? Well, if it isn’t, it isn’t going to stop this fellow from having one. He likely knows what he’s doing.
Snowfall
Winter can be a trying time in America, what with all the snow you need to shovel around just to get out of the house.
Cheese Balls
In certain parts of America, they don’t just consume Cheese Balls, they have massive containers filled to the brim with them. And they don’t usually last a month.
Colloquial Warning
Sometimes, you don’t want to simply be warned of a weather occurrence, you want the warning to be in terms you can understand. This sign knows what it’s doing.
Drunken Snowman
If you want to build a snowman but don’t want to appear childish, then it needs an activity that all of us can relate to: drinking yourself silly.
Watery Picnic
Just because you’re having a picnic doesn’t mean it can’t happen in the middle of a river, right? Nothing the proper equipment can’t handle.
Dry Hollow
Is climate change still fake if your usually dry park is now filled with water? Likely yes, and this is just a coincidence.
Companionship
A hot tub can be enjoyed by anybody, and you don’t even need to be human to do so. This is what this man and bear showcase by having some time together. Hopefully, the bear isn’t also having a cold one.
Rest Area
The good news is, if you need to do a number 2, we’ve got a unique place for you. The bad news is, well, we hope you don’t value your privacy too highly.
The Fall
What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, unless someone took an unfortunate picture of you drunkenly falling to the floor.
Friendly Competition
There’s nothing quite as American as competitive capitalism, and here we see Dunkin’ Donuts going at it against Starbucks, trying to win the fealty of its consumers.
The Boys
If you’re having trouble telling the youth apart from one another, you’re not alone. At least they’re used to wearing uniforms for their future jobs.
Rat Attack
This lucky fella just got itself quite the price, and it isn’t going to leave anything for anyone. Taking the slice back to base is the right move.
Shcool
What better way to want to go to school, than by feeling cool while doing it. Either that, or whoever painted this crossing text had a bit of dyslexia.
Guns as Prizes
Raffles are a great way to get a community together and enjoy a given activity. Giving out guns as the reward is incredibly American, though.
Ohio Mystery
According to this sign, no one really goes to Ohio on purpose, being advised to turn around. The sign is likely fake, but funny nonetheless.
Quakenado
America’s got both tornadoes and earthquakes, although for the lucky ones, they can experience the mythical quakenado. And by lucky, we mean lucky to survive it.
Subway Writing
We’ve all finished a paper or some work while on the subway, but that usually means on our phones or laptops. This fellow is so into that hipster life that he took a typewriter on his journey.
Amish Facebook Post
Believe it or not, Amish teens get into trouble just like any other teens; it is in their hormones after all. There’s just something about it being condensed into a Facebook post that makes this all the funnier.
Knife Lobster
If you’re wondering how the restaurants decide which lobster to cook, it is via knife fight between them. It’s known among the more obscure culinary circles.
Jackalope Ride
Few creatures are as known, as famed and as feared as the Jackalope, a mix between a bunny and the antlers of a deer. Well, in reality plenty of creatures are of greater mythological importance than the horned bunny, but not all of them have a ridable version!
Conservative Household
It makes sense for someone to have their own rules while inside their house, even if they can hardly enforce them outside of it. At least they can put a sign, right?
Fill Them Up!
Ranchers are all over America, taking their bulls for walks alongside their horses, as you do. Seems like they also need to do pit stops at gas stations like other travelers.
Extended Family
If unclear, it seems that this man has four wives, three dogs, and a whole lotta children. Either that, or he drives his four grown daughters around a lot, which seems even less likely.
Straight to the Veins
Maple syrup is the nectar of the gods for certain Americans, and they would consume it all the time if it wasn’t bad for their health, at least according to doctors and medical experts. But what do they know?
Telling on Themselves
If you don’t want the ‘pohlice’ to know about your secret moonshine production, why make a sign about it? And why leave it up if it’s already sold?
Hipster Dog
Some animals are taken care of with greater love than most humans, although that love and affection might be mishandled. After all, that dog likely can’t see anything with those glasses.
Custom Ride
Walking everywhere is hard, and hazardous for some people. So if you have a family member with an electric wheelchair, why not hop on for the ride?
Drive Thru
If you have a very specific need to refill while on the road, this place has got you covered. After all, nothing goes with cheese than some fine liquor.
Desert Nothingess
Taking on the American highway means miles and miles of absolutely nothing, being alone with your thoughts. This is why a traveling companion is a must.
Gator Ride
Can Raccoons and Alligators be friends? The likely answer is no, although these two might have some sort of deal while traversing Florida’s many rivers.
Mom Versus Moose
It’s hard enough to go shopping alone when you have to take all the groceries home, it’s a whole other thing to do it while dealing with the local mischievous moose.
Hanging Out
Seems like bears are uniquely social, at least considering how much they pop up here. They can even make friends with cats, as shown in this Montana picture.
Ice Tennis
Is your life not dangerous enough? Well then, add some blades to your shoes and go to an ice lake, get some rackets and a net, and you’re set: that’s ice tennis.
Sandwich Police
Well, if your town is called Sandwich, of course this is what the police cars will have written on the side. Still funny though.
Business Ventures
This West Virginia truck was spotted during a weekday, so you can imagine its content. Let’s just hope they use a different truck during weekends.
Who Goes First?
Two drivers couldn’t decide on who should go first, and instead of being polite, they decided to try and pass each other. It didn’t work out.
Local High School Cars
Students are encouraged to drive at an early age if they want to have any level of independence. What they get to drive, though, highly depends on who their parents are. We can see the life stories of these two clear as day.
