Amazon MGM Studios has premiered the first trailer for “Ali G: Who Iz I,” comedian Sacha Baron Cohen’s new Ali G movie which will release exclusively in cinemas on October 23rd.
The project marks a re-teaming of Cohen with Amazon MGM Studios after they handled the release of his “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm,” which premiered on the service on October 2020 when cinemas were mostly closed.
The movie arrives approximately 24 years after the 2002 feature film comedy “Ali G Indahouse,” which starred the likes of Martin Freeman, Charles Dance, Michael Gambon and Rhona Mitra among others.
Whereas that was a scripted comedy, this is adopting more of a mockumentary approach ala “Borat” and “Bruno”.
In the film and after twenty years spent “chillin’, tokin’ and bonin’”, Ali G is shocked to discover that his long-term girlfriend, Julie, is eight months pregnant.
Faced with an extra mouth to feed, he gets off his batty and heads to America to reclaim his former glory. He soon encounters adversaries who will ultimately threaten his and his child’s very existence.
Talk of the film emerged a few months back when it was revealed production had already been completed on the film, which had been shot in secret.
