Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” continues to break records well over a month into its run, and now the first talk of its home release has emerged.
Blu-ray.com is reporting that the title looks to be aiming to hit both digital and disc on November 17th – exactly 120 days/four months after its theatrical run.
The outlet cites a Barnes & Noble listing that includes a two-disc Blu-ray set, a three-disc 4K edition, and a Steelbook variant.
The problem? The original listing cited now leads to a 404 page, suggesting the listing was made in error, but multiple outlets and the trades have gone with the date with Variety reporting the date on its own suggesting they’ve heard it elsewhere.
Interestingly, Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” arrived on disc on November 21st 2023 – also exactly 120 days after its theatrical run – so it’s hardly unprecedented.
Universal has not officially announced the home video release for the film and isn’t expected to until closer to release, with questions still lingering about what aspect ratio it will be in. If it follows the “Oppenheimer” pattern, it will likely be made in October.
In the meantime, the film keeps powering on in cinemas and is currently up to $1.35 billion worldwide and is now the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever.
