When Marvel Studios’ “Iron Fist” wrapped up, it ended with Jessica Henwick’s Colleen Wing essentially inheriting the Iron Fist mantle and using a Chi-powered katana against some bank robbers.

Though the series itself was generally panned, Henwick’s work in the role was frequently singled out for praise, with many hoping she’d return in the role someday.

Henwick herself has been seemingly quite protective of the part and has previously indicated her wish to return to it within the MCU. This week, the actress, out promoting her role in the third season of Apple TV’s “Silo,” indicated she’s actually had discussions with Marvel Studios.

Speaking with Inverse, she revealed she was asked about returning for the third season of “Daredevil: Born Again” but declined because it would ruin the happy ending the show left for her character:

“I’ve said multiple times over the years, I would love to come back. I know that everyone is back this season. I’m not in this season. We did have discussions about whether I should go back this season. But for me, her story ended with her going off into the sunset. She has the Iron Fist. She’s got Misty by her side. Daughters of the Dragon is happening. She ended on a really great note.

I’m just not interested in bringing her back unless it’s worth sort of unpicking that happiness, because obviously she can’t be happy on a TV series. If she’s back, something’s gone wrong. I would absolutely love to come back, but it would just really have to be the right story.”

She said the writers of the series were in agreement, with Henwick saying: “they were like, ‘Yeah, we don’t want to bring you back, and then you just stood in the back of the shot.’ So hopefully soon, but I don’t really know.”

While she won’t be returning, Finn Jones’ Danny Rand will be appearing in the third season alongside fellow defenders like Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter). The next season of “Daredevil: Born Again” is expected to air in Spring 2027.
