First Trailer: “Matchbox: The Movie”

Apple, Skydance and Mattel Studios have released the teaser trailer for the live-action film adaptation of Mattel’s toy car line “Matchbox”.

Actors John Cena, Jessica Biel, Arturo Castro, Sam Richardson and Teyonah Parris, who all star in the film, were on hand for the San Diego Comic Con panel for the film where it was first screened.

Inspired by the Mattel toys, the Skydance co-production follows a group of friends since childhood who have their lives upended when undercover CIA agent Sean (Cena), their long-absent former leader, returns to their small town and unwittingly gets them embroiled in a frantic international pursuit to save the world.

Corey Stoll, Bill Camp, Danai Gurira, and Golshifteh Faranhani co-star in the film which “Extraction” helmer Sam Hargrave directs from a script by David Coggeshall. David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, Robbie Brenner, Jules Daly and Ynon Kreiz produce.

“Matchbox: The Movie” is set to premiere directly on Apple TV on October 9th.
