Garrett Wareing (“The Long Walk”) has been cast as a young Ed Warren, while Amanda Fix (“Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma”) will play a young Lorraine Warren in “The Conjuring” prequel at New Line Cinema.
Dread Central broke the news about the casting, adding that it’s unclear if Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will reprise their roles as the older versions of Ed and Lorraine Warren in some capacity.
Titled “The Conjuring: First Communion,” the film will be the eleventh overall in the franchise following in the wake of four main entries along with three “Annabelle” films, two “The Nun” films and “The Curse of La Llorona” film.
Rodrigue Huart will direct from a screenplay by Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg. Specifics of the plot remain under wraps, and no other casting is available at this time.
At last report, Rodrigue Huart was in talks to direct from a script co-written by Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg.
The films have taken reported events but often gone on wild tangeants with them, so it’s not clear what case this one could use as its base, as the likely early 1950s-set story is well before the pair became well known for their paranormal work.
“The Conjuring: First Communion” will open on September 10th 2027.
