It’s official, filming on the third season of Netflix’s live-action “One Piece” has wrapped and to celebrate the first official still has been released and can be seen below.
Filming began around Thanksgiving in late November in the show’s usual home of South Africa, and has now ended after seven months – though time was taken out during that run for the cast to be involved in promotional efforts of the second season earlier this year.
The core crew of Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Emily Rudd as Nami, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, Taz Skylar as Sanji, Charithra Chandran as Nefertari Vivi and Mikaela Hoover as the voice of Tony Tony Chopper are all back.
Joe Manganiello’s Sir Crocodile, teased in the second season’s final moments, will serve as the big bad of the third season. Also returning are Lera Abova as Nico Robin and Sendhil Ramamurthy as Vivi’s father Nefertari Cobra.
New to the series in the third season are Xolo Maridueña as Portgas D. Ace, Cole Escola as Bon Clay, Awdo Awdo as Mr. 1 and Daisy Head as Miss Doublefinger.
Titled “One Piece: The Battle for Arabasta,” the new season adapts the acclaimed arc of the manga/anime in which the Straw Hats arrive in the kingdom of Arabasta to stop an impending civil war orchestrated by Baroque Works. Whether any episodes will go beyond that and into the subsequent Skypiea arc isn’t clear.
The third season of the live-action “One Piece” will arrive on the streamer sometime in 2027.
