A proposed HBO Max series based on the DeuxMoi novel “Anon Pls,” first announced four years ago, is dead.
Ryan O’Connell, who created “Special,” recently appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and said, “That’s over. It didn’t move forward. But [I] definitely had a few sessions with DeuxMoi herself.”
Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television were developing the one-hour drama, which received a script-to-series order in 2022.
DeuxMoi is an Instagram account with 2.3 million followers that shares celebrity gossip. The creators, who have remained anonymous, co-wrote the book with New York Times bestselling author Jessica Goodman.
Dubbed an autofiction work about DeuxMoi’s creator, it follows the assistant to a notorious celebrity stylist as she revamps her old Instagram account into a celebrity gossip blog while drunk.
She initially believes the account will not see any growth or become famous. However, her life soon turns upside down when it ends up happening overnight. While no one knows she made it, the resulting success starts affecting her real life.
