Box-office predictions for Craig Gillespie’s upcoming “Supergirl” film have begun to rise, with projections for its domestic opening now up to $60-77 million domestically.
The news comes as Dean Cain, the actor who played Superman in the popular 1990s TV series “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” has scored backlash for a posting on social media related to “Supergirl” star Milly Alcock.
Derogatory online remarks about the actress – something sadly all too common ahead of the release of female-centric superhero movies – have been popping up on X, including one in which a user compared the actress to a Neanderthal-esque alien from the original “Star Trek” series.
According to CBM, Cain responded to that post, saying “Dang it… I laughed”. Many have taken umbrage with the posting, saying Cain should show more class and respect at the very least. It’s not the first or last time Cain has come under fire on social media.
The comments come as James Gunn also took to Threads to explain to a user how Supergirl could get her ears pierced if she’s invulnerable: “As explained in Superman, the same way she gets drunk – she goes to a planet with a red sun. Not to mention she was raised on a chunk of Krypton so didn’t even experience super powers until her teens.”
Clocking in at 107 minutes, a new clip from the film is out with Jason Momoa’s Lobo as the focus.
