By A24 has unleashed Onslaught, and it looks like director Adam Wingard is bringing audiences a wild blend of action, horror, and sci-fi chaos.
Leading the cast is Adria Arjona, who stars as a former Army sniper living a quiet life with her young daughter in a remote desert trailer park. That peace is shattered when a nearby military facility suffers a catastrophic breach, releasing a squad of genetically engineered super soldiers into the surrounding wilderness. Faster, stronger, and deadlier than ordinary humans, the rogue soldiers quickly turn the desert into a battlefield.
With nowhere to run and no one coming to save them, Arjona’s battle-hardened sniper is forced back into action. Armed with her military training and survival instincts, she launches a desperate fight to keep her daughter alive against an enemy that seems almost unstoppable.
Onslaught reunites Wingard with longtime collaborator Simon Barrett, who co-wrote the screenplay from a story they developed together. The duo previously worked on genre favorites such as You’re Next and The Guest, making this latest project a highly anticipated return to their horror roots.
Scheduled to hit theaters on September 4, the film promises explosive combat, terrifying enemies, and a fierce heroine willing to do whatever it takes to protect her family.
