The trailer for A24’s Onslaught has caught my eye. Adam Wingard directs. Wingard also directed The Guest, and I wondered if this is a stealth sequel. I mean…it’s probably not, but I have hope.
Wingard and The Guest star Dan Stevens have regularly teased a sequel to the 2014 thriller, even going as far as releasing a fake soundtrack and poster.
Dan Stevens is listed in the cast of Onslaught but I didn’t see him in the trailer, unless he’s one of the guys in masks. But surely that would be a waste of his devastating good looks.
Even if Onslaught has nothing to do with The Guest, which is likely, it seems to be treading similar ground. A group of escaped Government-engineered super soldiers run riot on a small town. Here is the trailer.
Onslaught stars Adria Arjona (Andor) as Girlboss number 1. Could be a red flag. On the plus side, Michael Biehn and Sergeant Al Powell himself, Reginald VelJohnson, provide gravitas.
Also cast is Alex Pereira (a UFC fighter), Jacob Scipio (Bad Boys for Life), Drew Starkey, Rebecca Hall and Eric Wareheim.
Onslaught will be released in September 2026.
