Production has officially gotten underway on the second season of Guy Ritchie’s “Young Sherlock” series at Amazon Prime Video.

New behind-the-scenes photos have been shared by series creator and showrunner Matthew Parkhill, with shots of Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Dónal Finn in costume, reprising their roles of Sherlock Holmes and James Moriarty respectively.

Production is currently taking place in Palermo, Italy and the photos seem to come from filming on the second episode with Colm McCarthy (“Sherlock”) directing. Mark Patten, who served as cinematographer throughout the first season, also returns.

In the shots, Holmes is seen sporting a slightly more traditional outfit while Moriarty is dressed as a priest. Filming on the first season ran from July 2024 to February 2025 with the episodes launching on Amazon in early March this year.

If filming on the second season is now underway, it’ll likely last through to year’s end ahead of an airing in either late 2027 or early 2028. The show’s renewal order came just one month after the first season premiered.
