Hot on the heels of yesterday’s second season trailer launch, Marvel Studios has confirmed they have already renewed their critically acclaimed animated series “X-Men ’97” for a fourth season.
The second season launches in July with a third already well into production. Speaking with EW, the show’s executive producer Larry Houston says the studio is keen to get episodes out on a consistent schedule for the next few years.
That warrants the early renewal as episodes take some time to get made, and also ensures fans will have plenty more episodes to come. Houston explains:
“They want everyone to know it’s only gonna be a year now between seasons, not two-and-a-quarter years. It’s gonna be a year until the next one and a year until the next one [after that]. They are on schedule now.
One of the reasons they’re on schedule is we’ve gone over, given notes on, responded to not only all the scripts for season 3, all the animatics for season 3, we are in season 4 giving script notes. So that’s how deep they are into the development.”
Don’t expect this to be the end either as plans are for four seasons “at the very least”. The third season will air in 2027 and fourth in 2028, so a fifth could come in 2029. The original “X-Men: The Animated Series” lasted for five seasons.
“X-Men ’97” releases on July 1st 2026.
