The last movie in the franchise, Jurassic World: Rebirth, was a famously turbo-charged production, with the script from David Koepp locked in early, dates set, and a super-speedy production. Director Gareth Edwards came on board late in the day and had to work from a set script. He was credited with bringing it in to land and running a happy production.

My short review would be simply a considerable improvement over Jurassic World: Dominion, but now I can’t really remember much about it.

Universal was pleased. Even more so when the $200 million project went on to bring in nearly $900 million at the box office and seemed to indicate there was life in the franchise yet. People still turn out for dinosaurs, it seems. It was also nominated for an Oscar.

As a result, there will now be a fifth movie in the Jurassic World series, an eighth overall when you include the Jurassic Park entries, and they seem to want a fast start again. Cameras could be set to roll as early as this fall. Even though the movie has not been officially confirmed, this is according to internet scooper DanielRPK.

A June 2028 release is in target, with director Gareth Edwards returning alongside Scarlett Johansson as Zora Bennett, Jonathan Bailey as Dr. Henry Loomis, and Mahershala Ali as Duncan Kincaid.

The issue here is that Johansson starts filming The Batman Part II in London this year. Will that be cleared in time for a start on the new Jurassic?

Earlier this year, internet detectives found multiple domain names had been acquired, hinting at a potential title of Jurassic World: Liberation, but other rumors suggest a return to the Jurassic Park moniker.

Can somebody please remind the creatives that Denis Nedry’s shaving foam can still remain on the original island, encased in preserving mud and full of DNA-packed embryos. Something will have survived after the volcanic eruption of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Edward’s Godzilla remains moodily effective in a lot of places, and rumors are that his Rogue One was very different and contained levels of violence that made Lucasfilm get cold feet. The question is, if he’s on board from the start, will he bring something new to the Jurassic Park franchise, if he’s allowed?
