If you thought the biggest cope this morning was going to be coming from the White House press secretary, then brace yourself, as the head of Marvel Television has got it beat.

It is fair to say that She-Hulk: Attorney at Law was something of a disaster for Marvel television. It was a focal point for criticism, and held up as emblematic of everything wrong with Marvel’s post-Endgame approach.

So it was also a disaster, numbers wise?

Not so, says Marvel Television exec Brad Winderbaum. He gave an interview to the Escape Pod podcast and says you must separate the online culture wars from actual reality.

Noisy social media does not equal numbers, according to him.

The Tatiana Maslany-led series powered on and delivered great stats, despite any online backlash:

I love ‘She-Hulk.’ I’d love to make more ‘She-Hulk’. I mean, I’ll tell you this about ‘She-Hulk.’ That’s one of our best-performing shows. It just hit the general audience.”

Marvel Television maintains that the cost of She-Hulk was the biggest reason why a second season is unlikely, not noisy online mobs.

In reality, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law garnered 1.5 million U.S. households in its first four days, according to Samba TV,

While it had a lower premiere viewership than several MCU shows, it significantly outperformed Ms Marvel, and was in the same ballpark as Hawkeye and Moon Knight.
