Filming on the new live-action “Tomb Raider” TV series has hit pause following the show’s star, Sophie Turner, sustaining a “minor injury” according to a statement from Amazon MGM Studios.

The statement reads: “Sophie Turner recently experienced a minor injury. As a precaution, production has briefly paused to allow her time to recover. We look forward to resuming production as soon as possible.”

Details of the injury are unclear, but the crew will reportedly continue to be paid while production is halted for now. Filming on the series officially began back on January 15th.

Turner, who plays adventurer Lara Croft, has reportedly been in physical training for a year to prep for the part, describing her physical prep as an “eight hours a day, five days a week” full-time job for her since February last year.

The series is expected to feature Lara Croft as an established adventurer and archaeologist and to have a 1990s vibe. It was first announced in January 2023. It is rumoured to involve Norse Mythology and Ragnarok, but will not be tied to the “Tomb Raider: Underworld” game that was Norse-themed.

British actress/writer and Emmy winner Phoebe Waller-Bridge created, wrote scripts, and executive produces the series. Chad Hodge is also on board as executive producer and co-showrunner.

Also starring are Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Bill Paterson, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Celia Imrie, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, and August Wittgenstein.
