When I was much younger, I always admired the Sorceress in Masters Of The Universe. Anyone who could transform into an eagle, keep the power of Grayskull in check, resist Skeletor’s hordes, and do it all without wearing any pants, ever, was OK by me.
When I first heard that they had cast the universally stunning Morena Baccarin as Sorceress in the live-action Masters Of The Universe movie, my first thought was, “Great, this means she will be in the whole movie without wearing any pants!”
This probably says more about me than it does any Masters Of The Universe movie.
There was just the briefest shot of her in the recent teaser trailer, once as an eagle and once in human form. Now we can see more of the guardian of the mysterious secrets of Grayskull.
The Travis Knight-directed film will be going all in on the merch, so expect to see many collectibles and special editions in the run-up to release, like a special tie-in version of the card game UNO.
Those rather excellent folk over at He-Mania have done it again. This time with a set of cards featuring Baccarin’s Sorceress, alongside James Wilkinson as Mekaneck, Jon Xue Zhang as Ram Man, James Apps as Spikor, and Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man.
Travis. I see what could be pants? Otherwise, the rest of it all looks very like the toys and 1980s cartoon, except for Goat Man. I genuinely cannot remember any Goat Man in the original.
Masters of the Universe also stars Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Camila Mendes as Teela, Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, James Purefoy as King Randor, Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena, and Kristin Wiig as the voice of Roboto.
Masters of the Universe is set to hit cinemas on June 5th, 2026, and you know you are going to be there, so why fight it?
