A new report claims that Sony Pictures has committed to a minimum theatrical window for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” – one that would allow for potential IMAX screenings in the latter part of its run.

Nexus Point News has said that Sony Pictures is setting a 60-day minimum theatrical window for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” to ensure the film has ample time to screen for audiences.

That would be one of the longer windows for a major release film these days, especially for a Sony title, and more in line with most of Disney’s Marvel releases which have generally been around the 2-3 month mark between theatrical and PVOD releases.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” famously won’t be able to screen on IMAX screens at launch as Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” has a three-week minimum exclusive booking of all IMAX screens from July 17th through to August 6th and a minimum five-weekend theatrical window (31 days).

A long window like this however could potentially allow the film to hit IMAX screens at some point during its run. The film opens July 31st, meaning it won’t be hitting PVOD until October at the earliest.

The release talk comes as excitement is building for the film’s initial trailer which is rumored to be making its debut online this week and in cinemas with “Project Hail Mary” on Friday.
