Well, if Scream is back on the big screen, then a new Scary Movie instalment should be along any moment… and here it is! Regular as clockwork.
Miramax has released the first teaser for the latest spoof, set twenty-six years after the original. It features the return of the “Core Four” – Marlon Wayans (Shorty), Shawn Wayans (Ray), Anna Faris (Cindy), and Regina Hall (Brenda).
They are joined by variousother returnees from various instalments alongside a few special guests, and they will be sending up everything from the usual horror movies to the current political environment, and everything in between. The press release says:
“Nothing is sacred. No trope survives. Every line gets crossed. The Wayans are back to cancel the Cancel Culture.”
The Wayans and Rick Alvarez wrote the screenplay. The teaser is, just like the movies, a game of “spot the spoof”.
Oh lawd! Scary Movie 6 is set to open in cinemas on June 12th.
