“Jackass” star and co-creator Johnny Knoxville has confirmed a June 26th release date for a new “Jackass” theatrical release.
The new film arrives three years after the fourth movie, “Jackass Forever,” hit cinemas. The original franchise began with an MTV reality series in 2000 before expanding into multiple films, games and merchandising.
Knoxville says more details will be revealed soon, saying in an Instagram post:
“Well a wang dang and hot damn doodle, we are starting the year off with a bang. We wanted to let you know that this summer Jackass is back!! We will see you in theatres June 26th. More to come but wanted you to hear it from us first.”
Paramount Pictures will produce the film and Variety reports that Bam Margera has signed a deal to appear in never-before-seen archival footage in the film – but won’t be filming any new stunts for the movie.
Margera was removed from the “Jackass Forever” production after reportedly violating a contract related to his substance abuse.
Knoxville previously said “Jackass Forever” would be “his last contribution to the franchise,” though he subsequently walked them back. No other casting details are known about this new release.
