By As the calendars about to turn to 2026, I thought it would be fun to create a wish list of games that we hope to hear announced sometime in the new year. While the first quarter of the year doesn’t always have a wave of releases announced, as that often happens during the warmer months of the year, and as we get to conventions such as Summer Game Fest, Gamescom Opening Night, and The Game Awards, announcements can come at any time.
The new BioShock game
There have been rumors and employment notices for a couple of years now, but it would be nice to see exactly what the future of the franchise holds, as the hope that the movie or series and new game would be revealed, and 26 would be amazing.
The Division 3
While the planned Netflix movie and free-to-play game never materialized, rumors of a third game have continued, as well as the possibility that the film adaptation may still appear.
Half-life 3
The annual pipedream never goes away, but we can hope that eventually one of the rumors about a new project will come to fruition.
Left 4 Dead 3
If you’re going to dream, dream big, and even with rumors of a second Back 4 Blood and a new game from the series creator, one can always hope.
Portal 3
I know this is getting to be extreme, but it doesn’t hurt to hope, as there is still an opportunity to complete the trilogy.
The Last of Us 3
I know that at the beginning, the odds of this are slim, as likely as any new reveals that this nature would come around the time that Sony formally announces the PlayStation 6. However, with the new season set to film, it would certainly be a very welcome announcement as would Sony announcing a return of the Killzone, Resistance, Navy SEALs, and Twisted Metal franchises.
Fallout 5
Rumors of the game’s production have flooded the Internet, as well as a partial confirmation during a live stream. It would certainly be great to see more about this game in the new year/
Quake
We’ve had a new Doom game, and now I think it would be an absolutely fantastic time to start a new chapter in this series.
Alien Isolation 2
Following the surprise announcement, we know that the game is in the planning stages and possibly several years off. There are rumors of a new Fire Team Elite as well as another solo game in the works, despite it being years away. Some kind of tease would be absolutely fantastic for fans to look forward to.
While we’re dreaming, a brand-new Predator or even AVP game, considering how well received the last two films have been.
Command and Conquer
There has been some uptick in the RTS genre, and with the new investors backing EA, a look at updating classic franchises would be interesting. While it is not the Dead Space 4 release that some people hope for, it certainly would be nice to see a new version of the classic series.
