Netflix has premiered the first trailer for the second volume of the fifth and final season of “Stranger Things”.
Having released the first four episodes of the eight-episode season back at Thanksgiving, the new trailer teases the fifth through seventh episodes, which will release on the service on Christmas Day next Thursday.
The new trailer, partly set to Diana Ross’ “Upside Down” but not the best use of that song (which would be a Mercedes ad), shows a new wrinkle in the Upside Down with some sort of violent atmospheric anomaly.
There’s plenty more Vecna in various guises, Steve and Dustin finally getting along again, Max trying to find a way out of where she and the other girl are trapped, and more.
The producers have already teased that the Frank Darabont-directed fifth episode will be very dark and scary; the sixth, directed by Shawn Levy, is the biggest episode of the three; and the seventh, which the Duffers and Levy co-directed, is the most emotional chapter of the season aside from the finale.
Following the airing of these episodes, the two-hour finale will then air a week later on New Year’s Eve.
