Sad news from Los Angeles is breaking overnight. Legendary movie director Rob Reiner has been found dead in his LA home alongside his wife, Michelle. Reports from numerous trades, outlets, and mainstream sources are confirming the story.

Reiner was 78, and his wife was 70. The pair was found dead in their home in Brentwood, California, when the L.A. Fire Department was called to their house a little after 3:30 pm local time.

Detectives from the LAPD Robbery-Homicide Division are investigating after two bodies were found. It is now reported that the two suffered lacerations consistent with a knife. Since then, People has reported that the LAPD is considering Reiner’s son, Nick, as a “person of interest”. The Robbery Homicide Division is taking the lead in an investigation into the incident.

Tributes have flooded in from across the industry and far wider. Messages have come from such different quarters as James Woods and Roseanne Barr, to Nancy Pelosi and Hilary Clinton.

Reiner is the director of an incredible body of work. This Is Spinal Tap, Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, Misery, and A Few Good Men just scratch the surface.

He was also an accomplished actor, with roles in movies such as The Jerk, Throw Momma from the Train, Sleepless in Seattle, and The Wolf of Wall Street.

He also had a long TV acting career with an Emmy-winning series regular role in All in the Family.

In recent years, he had become a vocal political activist.
