Some people’s voices are very distinctive, Morgan Freeman, Gilbert Godfried, and Michael Caine. You can hear them say one word, and you know exactly who they are.

Sadly, people like Caine are getting older, and they won’t last forever. However, it seems that his voice will. In a recent tweet (I’m still never going to call it X), Michael Caine and Matthew McConaughey are going to have their voices heard forever.

Michael Caine has signed on with ElevenLabs and has added his voice to their newly launched ‘Iconic Marketplace.’

Caine and McConaughey have teamed up with ElevenLabs to virtually produce their voices for things like voice-overs and narrations. Caine said:

“For years, I’ve lent my voice to stories that moved people — tales of courage, of wit, of the human spirit. Now, I’m helping others find theirs. With ElevenLabs, we can preserve and share voices — not just mine, but anyone’s.”

“ElevenLabs is at the very forefront of technology, using innovation not to replace humanity, but to celebrate it. ElevenLabs gives everyone the tools to be heard. It’s not about replacing voices; it’s about amplifying them, opening doors for new storytellers everywhere. I’ve spent a lifetime telling stories. ElevenLabs will help the next generation tell theirs.”

McConaughhey has invested an ‘undisclosed sum’ into ElevenLabs, along with collaborating with them in 2022.

“Alright, alright, alright, alright…”

Along with Caine and McConaughey, other voices that are going to enter the virtual world are Maya Angelou, John Wayne, Liza Minnelli, Judy Garland, Richard Feynman, Mark Twain, Babe Ruth, Alan Turing, Sir Laurence Olivier, and more.

Preserving someone’s voice is good, but it can also be used for bad. I’m not going to post it here, but there is a video of Emma Watson reading Mein Kampf. It’s wrong on so many levels.

Do you agree with them? Should he and others have their voices preserved?

To me, you don’t need to put his voice on a computer; every English guy can do a good enough Caine impression.
