Ghostface is back, again, this time killing people off, one by one, for some inane reason. No, wait, that was Scream 6, and 5, and 4, I think. Here is a new trailer for the latest movie in the franchise.
Yes, Sydney is back, in the form of Neve Campbell. I can’t imagine your career is doing all that well, when you have to come back for the ‘memberberries in the seventh of a franchise. That’s a bit harsh, I mean Campbell was in those other movies, you know, that other movie…anyone?
Instead of following the story from Scream 6, they are going back to basics and Sydney and her daughter.
Scream 7 stars Campbell, Courtney Cox, McKenna Grace, Anna Camp, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Celeste O’Connor, Sam Rechner and Joel McHale. On the IMDb, listed as ‘Other Cast’ are David Arquette and Matthew Lillard, both of whom have played characters who’ve died.
Kevin Williamson is directing, with Guy Busick and James Vanderbilt penning the screenplay. Williamson wrote the original Scream movie, and then 2 and 4. The story for this newest movie is:
…this is a personal Scream story for Sidney, closely tied to Campbell’s character, with high stakes for her family.
I can’t help but think it was pretty personal from the first one, you know, where Ghostface is trying to kill her.
Am I being a little overly critical of the Scream franchise? Are they still movies worth waiting for? Am I just a miserable old git?
Scream 7 will be in cinemas on 27th Feb 2026.
