The Inbetweeners was a silly little Brit sitcom that went massive! It spawned two hit movies and an unfortunate US remake that was axed. The original remains well-loved. It’s just the right mix of gross out, comical stupidity, cringe and pathos.
Now it is set to return, and all four of the original leads are on board.
The show’s creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley said:
“It’s incredibly exciting to be plotting more adventures for our four favourite friends (ooh, friends)”.
A deal with production giant Banijay UK has unlocked the rights, and a new movie is in the works.
The cast recently.
Actor Joe Thomas, 41, who played Simon, said last year that the four main stars would all be keen to bring the characters back, pointing out that unlike many casts, they were still all friends who still work together across other projects and podcasts.
“All of us feel it would be nice to do. We’re all still in each other’s lives. We all still like each other.”
Three seasons ran on E4 in the UK and various other channels worldwide from 2008 to 2010. The movies came out in 2011 and 2014.
The first movie dealt with their first lads holiday after leaving school, while the second movie followed their misadventures during a gap year in Australia.
Other series regular Emily Atack got strong reviews for her role in the Disney+ show Rivals, which remains tremendous fun.
Reports say the new deal is flexible, and can cover the return in any medium, including a stage show.
No Will’s Mum, and we riot!
Yes Mum!
