Fire up the Prequel-O-Tron! It’s time to go back, way back, back into Maine because this is a Stephen King story so where else were we going to go? Two teasers have given glimpses; now much more is revealed of the IT prequel series IT: Welcome To Derry.
The HBO Max limited series is a prequel to the two-film adaptation of Stephen King’s famous novel IT. This time, the story is set in the early 1960s, in the period before Pennywise goes into hibernation. He would later re-emerge in the 1980s in the events of the main story.
Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Stephen Rider, Madeleine Stowe, and Rudy Mancuso star, while Bill Skarsgård is reprising his role as Pennywise from the movies. Andy Muschietti directed the films and developed this nine-episode series with Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs. He also directs four episodes.
The Muschiettis, Skarsgård, Fuchs, Brad Caleb Kane, David Coatsworth, Shelley Meals, Roy Lee, and Dan Lin executive produce. Fuchs and Kane are co-showrunners.
IT: Welcome to Derry arrives on HBO Max in time for Halloween, starting on October 26th. Episodes will be weekly.
