With “Argylle” opening this Friday in cinemas, filmmaker Matthew Vaughn is out there talking up his spy thriller/comedy but recently commented on another film entirely – specifically “Deadpool 3”.

Vaughn hasn’t done a film for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but has had Marvel experience – most notably directing “X-Men: First Class” in 2011 tjat ushered in four young X-Men films in total.

Thus he has some level of pull at Marvel and whilst appearing on a recent episode of BroBible Post-Cred Podcast (via The Playlist), he says he has some inside knowledge about “Deadpool 3” that’s enough to get him excited.

In fact, he goes so far as to say the film could potentially ‘save’ the MCU:

“The few snippets that I know about ‘Deadpool vs. Wolverine’ – or ‘Wolverine vs. Deadpool,’ I’m sure that argument between Ryan and Hugh is happening as we speak – are unbelievable.

That’s going to be the jolt… the Marvel universe is about to have a jolt of them, and it’s going to bring that body back to life… I think Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are about to save the whole Marvel universe.”

He hopes this will allow for exciting new “X-Men” tales within the MCU: “I’m a genuine fan of the X-Men; all I want is for the movies to be as good as they should be.”

It marks a major change from Vaughn’s other comments recently on the greater trend of ‘superhero fatigue’, suggesting “maybe we all need a little bit of time off from it”.

The third “Deadpool” film is currently slated to open in cinemas in July.
