We had news about The Housemaid recently, which stars Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried. Well, now there’s a trailer.
I like how they aren’t giving away who’s the goodie and who’s the baddie. All I know is, I would like Sweeney as a housemaid. I would like that very much.
The Housemaid stars Sweeney, Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, Michele Morrone, Elizabeth Perkins, Megan Ferguson, Ellen Tamaki, Indiana Elle, and Ivan Amaro Bullon. Paul Feig is directing, with Rebecca Sonnenshine writing, based on the novel by Freida McFadden.
The story is short and sweet:
Follows a struggling woman who is happy to start over as a housemaid for an affluent, elite couple.
There are more plot details online, but I’ve skipped them, as I don’t want to spoil it.
Feig has directed The Housemaid, after movies like A Simple Favour, I guess he fancies more psychological thrillers. Sonnenshine is known for writing The Boys and The Vampire Diaries. The movie will be produced by Lionsgate.
McFadden, who wrote The Housemaid, has had a series of books, including a trilogy of The Housemaid. Depending on how this movie does, I’m guessing there are probably two more movies on the way.
In 2023, the novel won the International Thriller Writers Awards and sold over 630,000 copies in 2024. I don’t know if that’s a lot, but by all accounts, it’s very popular.
The Housemaid will be in cinemas on the 19th of Dec. Now, here are some images of Sweeney, because we know our audience!
